In an effort to develop the Desmosedici so much faster and get a lot of input, Ducati confirmed that it will provide an identical engine to the two factory team riders, Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso, and two sateli team rider, Spies and Andrea Dovizioso. Ducati wanted to be more competitive in MotoGP 2013, the Qatar GP starts from April 7 to come as the series opener.
Spies, who will strengthen Ignite Pramac Ducati squad, will make his debut with Ducati in the first official practice of pre-season in Sepang, Malaysia next week. It will also be his first action on the track race since suffering a serious injury accident at the Malaysian GP last October.
Former Yamaha rider admitted, Ducati's decision is of great benefit. Therefore, the different style of each rider, then the team will get a positive feedback, so the desire to rise from adversity over the last two seasons with Valentino Rossi, could be realized.
"Andrea (Dovizioso) is a great rider with a lot of experience with Honda and Yamaha. Nicky has been with Ducati and he understands this bike more than others," said Spies told MCN, on Thursday (31/01/2013).
"With Ducati gave the same four motors so all feedback can be viewed and judged by the same engine and not two different motors for the factory and satellite teams.
"Now they have four and not just two motor development and it is very important and it shows how the desire to develop a Ducati motorcycle, assigned the right information and the right to get it."
